Day 14 - Today I worked on my website. I finished up my app review, but put it on a hidden page before it is finalized. I wrote up the review over the weekend and made a video about the app. It was difficult to get the video to link to the website, but I eventually found a work-around. I will eventually post it to YouTube and link it to my website from there. I made a few finishing touches to my about me and added content to the Northgate Help Desk page.

Day 13 - I forgot to post yesterday's post, so it looks like I did it today. Today I used the new content that Mrs. Eisner sent me to continue working on her website. Mr. Tobin gave us a general format to use for teacher websites, but I'm not sure if I should use it because Mrs. Eisner already gave me some formatting ideas. Also today Mr. Tobin decided that our weekly blogs should be bi-monthly so that we will have more time and material to create a better product in the end.
Day 11 - Today we began with looking over our blogs, and Mr. Tobin gave us some pointers. We then created a new alternative system to going through the Google Ninjas program which I'm really excited about. Mr. Tobin calls them challenges, but basically they are technology projects that Mr. Tobin assigns for us work on in teams. The first challenge he assigned was to create a Google form that teachers can use to write referrals, submit them to the administration online, and receive feedback about what disciplinary action was taken using formRat. In the end of the period David explained PaperRater, a free service similar to Turnitin.com.
Day 11 - Today we tried to do google ninjas again. It only worked on Internet Explorer, and even then it didn't seem to work. I went through the first lesson and then tried to take the quiz, but it was just a single question that says, "Do you want to complete the course? Yes or No?" and no matter what you click it takes you back to a screen that says congrats on completing the course, but it doesn't give you a certificate.
Day 8 - Mr. Tobin went over what was expected in the app reviews, teacher profiles, blogs, etc. Didn't get much work done.
Day 7 - Spent most of the period trying to get google ninjas to work. Eventually Tobin decides to ditch it entirely. Finished as much as possible with the current info on Eisner's website.
Day 5- We continued working on our website, added the tech news tab, wrote some more on home page, and finalized domain name. We were given a guideline for the individual portfolio blog.
Day 4- Normally wouldn't do a 5-minutes on Fridays. Usually covered in weekly Blog Post. Went over in class what the timelines for all the various projects that we will be doing. Updated about description for all pages.
Day 1- On the first day we were given an introduction to the course, and what we would be doing throughout the year. We were given a syllabus and told to read it for homework.
Day 2- was spent going over the computer use policy. We started building our websites. Day 3- today we continued working on our websites, and some people signed up for apps to review. We learned more about what to put in our main blogs. |
